Lakes Region Dining Set
A commission for a dining room set for Mike and Cindy, who live in the New Hampshire Lakes region, specifically on Squam Lake
The chairs are similar to the chairs for Aaron and Emily, done several years ago, but with themes carved on the seat back specifically designed for Mike and Cindy. For example, in the background of the loon chair is “Turtle Rock” which they see from their porch front, the farm scene below the soaring eagle is that of some friends of theirs, nearby, and so forth.
Each chair has different scenes front and back, but with the same theme. For example, one side of the hummingbird chair shows a male feeding on flowers, the other a female feeding her chicks in a nest. Here are photos of several of the carvings on the seat backs.

The dining table has a tabletop that opens for two leaves. It is pedestal style with the top sliding rather than the base opening. I was careful to think of where people will place their feet when designing the base. Here are photos of the end caps, one a fox cub, the other thre bear cubs climbing on a tree.
