November 20

Thursday November 20 is the Third Thursday, and Portsmouth’s West End studios are having open house. Bill Truslow has kindly invited me to show some work in his photography studio, so I’ll be there, 5 to 7 PM. It’s at 909 Islington Street in Portsmouth, and other studios will be open as well. Do stop by.

What I’m working on lately

I’m working on a plant stand that is more sculpture than furniture. It uses a stone that I’ve been saving for a while. First I made a scale model of how to construct a base to mount it, thought I would carve it into a gardener, but it seemed rather to suggest a guitar player as I began working. Here are some photos along with a photo of an earlier work of the style I’m aiming for

News from the Craft Fair

"Three Quotes from Ovid" by Jeffrey CooperMy collaboration screen “Three Quotes from Ovid” won the Edith Grodin Award for best collaboration at the Living with Craft Exhibit at the League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair.  The illustrations are screen prints done by Catherine Green, and we were very attentive to coordinate the carvings on the columns with the prints. I’ve done several similar screens over the years, and this one’s been very well received. It is the piece I am showing in this years NH Furniture Masters exhibitions.
